This 29th branch is the latest to join VQC and is located in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Established July 2026 by three women with a passion for its mission- ‘to provide quilts to persons living with cancer in our province’.
We plan to host sew days on a monthly schedule. East Coast Quilt Co. on Water Street has
volunteered their space for us to sew. This will be a gathering of like minded people who want to volunteer their time for this wonderful cause and to socialize, celebrate friendships, share ideas and sewing techniques. We intend to sew quilts and distribute them to persons living with cancer in NL. We welcome new members or volunteers to sew with us on Sew Days or if not in the city you may already be part of a Friends group who sew for charity. You can form a Friends of Victoria’s Quilts Canada group with us as well. If interested in forming a VQC Friends Group please email Rose Drover-Jones (vqcsjnlchair@gmail.com).
Due to the vast geographical area of our province, we have chosen to cover the Avalon Peninsula and as far west as Holyrood. We will deliver quilts within this area and other areas of the province can still receive quilts from the VQC national area. We believe it is important to hand deliver our quilts when possible as it provides more personalized compassion.
Our mission is to make and provide quilts to persons living with cancer. These quilts are a tangible reminder that you are not in this fight alone. This is a not for profit organization that relies on volunteers, donations and private fundraising. Anyone wishing to make a donation to our cause can visit the national website and do so and indicate your donation is for the St. John’s, NL branch. We also accept monetary donations, fabric donations of 100% cotton or finished quilt tops made from 100% cotton.
Our executive team consists of;
Rose Drover-Jones (chair and treasurer)
Jan Hayden (secretary)
Dianne Andrews (quilt distributor and quilt coordinator
