The North Bay Branch of VQC prides itself in making beautiful quilts for the requests that have come into our branch since 2008. Last year we delivered 61 quilts. We have delivered over 700 quilts to date.
We meet at Omond Memorial United Church where we have lots of space, bright lights and a room for our supplies. We meet the first Tuesday of every month except July and August. Kits are cut and the ladies finish
them at our meeting or take them home to finish.
A few long arm quilters in our area quilt for us for a nominal fee. Without these ladies our members would have to machine-quilt all our quilts.
Although our membership is small we have managed to keep up with the demand in our area. Our supplies are mostly donated by our community residents but we recently received an entire stock from one of our members who can no longer sew. We feel blessed with all the fabric that came our way. We are still required to buy flannel and batting but that is possible with the generous donations we receive. We have much to be thankful for. We receive donations and grants from several local organizations. Hopefully with these funds we will be able to carry on our work for years to come.
