London

Victoria’s Quilts Canada (VQC) provides handmade quilts, free of charge, to those living with cancer. By
providing these quilts we hope to bring comfort to those dealing with cancer and let them know they are
not alone!

VQC has been delivering quilts in the London area since 2010, initially under the Woodstock/Oxford Branch. In 2019, the London group officially became its own branch, complete with a dedicated Executive Committee and has grown to a vibrant, productive group. We strive to deliver quilts in person to recipients in London, Middlesex, and Elgin counties. Forthose in other parts of Southwestern Ontario, quilts are mailed with care via Canada Post.

THE FRIENDS GROUP
The spirit of community and creativity thrives within our Friends Group, which meets monthly from September to June at Wesley Knox United Church. With around 50 volunteers—20 of whom gather in person each month—the group includes quilters of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned experts. All are welcome, and there is truly a job for everyone, whether it’s cutting, sewing, organizing supplies, or simply lending a hand. Our materials are stored at the church, allowing volunteers the flexibility to work either on-site or from home. It’s this collaborative
environment that continues to fuel our momentum.

BEHIND THE SCENES: OUR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The London Branch is led by a committed Executive Committee of nine members. Three of these members are quilters themselves, responsible for managing the Friends Group and ensuring seamless communication with our volunteers. The remaining members may not quilt, but they are united by their deep passion for VQC’s mission and bring diverse skills to the table.

FUNDRAISING AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH
We rely entirely on community support to fund our work. Our Fundraising and Promotion Committee is constantly seeking creative ways to raise money and spread the word. From quilt raffles and wine pool fundraisers to memorial events and boutique sales, each initiative helps ensure we have the resources needed to keep quilting. We are also committed to building awareness through outreach. Our volunteers give presentations to local groups, host tables at community events, and distribute materials to doctors’ offices. Information about VQC-London Branch is displayed on the television in the waiting room of London Regional Cancer Centre. Finally we have been fortunate to have articles about our branch published in several local magazines in London and Strathroy.
