Edmonton

The Edmonton Branch started in April 2021, and within a couple months we had 18 volunteers signed up to sew quilts. With much help from the Calgary Branch, and a Branch in Saskatchewan, we quickly had piles of cotton fabric and patterns for quilt tops. Currently our membership has grown to 68 and we continue to receive fabric donations from present and past quilters of the Alberta prairies. Our 2024 distribution of quilts to cancer recipients marked 238 quilts.

We gather for Sew Day each month, and celebrate friendship, fun and the time to learn techniques from others. Volunteering for Victoria’s Quilts Canada may also include administrative roles, fundraising activities or other opportunities to help us on our mission of comforting people with cancer.

Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer your time as a single sewer, or do you already sew with others in a Friends group? We would love to hear from you!

Edmonton has a Friends Group in Stony Plain.
