The Golden Lake branch of Victoria Quilts Canada “Cuddles & Hugs” was established in 2002 with just four members. We are now 25 members. We meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month, except December. We gather at Grace Lutheran church in Eganville, Ontario from 9 until 3. People bring their lunch, but tea, coffee and snacks are provided. We hold pot luck lunches every couple of months.
Our tops are gifted from our volunteers. We also had two elderly members who have passed who made many tops and left us with a good supply.
There are four members who go to the church every couple months and sandwich quilt tops together so they are ready to quilt. On quilt days we set up four frames and hand quilt. When quilting is done there are members who take them home and sew bindings onto them and hand stitch the bindings to the back. Also there is one volunteer who sews bags to delever the quilts in. She does this yearly from donated material. Quilts are delivered throughout our area. We can deliver up to 10 or more a month. We also have two friends groups, McArthur Mills and Palmer Rapids, that will take several quilts in winter time to work on.
Much love and laughter goes into these quilts. We are always looking for new members to join us. We have a lovely big hall to quilt in, thanks to Grace Lutheran church.
