"Thank you so much for sending my mom a quilt. She was thrilled with it, and absolutely loves the colour! Your kindness is inspiring and is greatly appreciated as she continues on her journey of treatments. You can see that there was much care, workmanship, and love put into the making of this beautiful quilt. Not to mention the efforts of those who organize and run this program. You folks are the very best. I wish you all a happy and healthy 2018. Thanks again."
– Claudia Byczek, Winnipeg MN

"This summer, while visiting the Arundel town fair, I met the ladies of the Laurentian Branch of Victoria's Quilts Canada. They told me about their project and I loved the bags they were selling. I got three: one for one of my nieces, and one for each of my closest friends for Xmas. Today, at our yearly Boxing Day brunch, I gave my friends their respective bag; a few minutes later, one of my dear friends told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I came home and requested a quilt be prepared for her. Thank you ladies for all you do. May your beautiful project keep striving and helping our community."

– William Wiersma, Hamilton ON

"I was just reading the comments for November. I saw a comment by Bev Campbell from Miramichi, NB. She's an amazing volunteer in the chemo room. She keeps us supplied with coffee, tea and cookies! When Bev found out I had not received a quilt she was quick to get all my information. My treatments are on Thursdays. Early the next week, I received the most beautiful quilt in fall colors with a wonderfully soft flannel lining. What a wonderful treat, it will be well used! Thank you so much."
– Gina Whitty, Miramichi NB

"Thank you all who volunteer your time and support for making these beautiful quilts. I have sent them to a few of my friends who needed the comfort."
– Kim DaSilva, Mississauga ON

"Just received one of your beautiful quilts that will follow me throughout my journey. Thanks to all of you for your unselfish work."
– Margo Chamberland, Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette QC

"Thank you to all the hands that made my quilt possible. I was blown away by this wonderful gift. I will cherish it always."
– Marilyn Nicholson, Fredericton NB

"This week a beautiful quilt was dropped off at my office for me on a day I was being released from hospital. We are early in our fight against a metastasized colon cancer, so greatly appreciated the more than appropriate gift. The quilt request was made by someone who knows my background and she was pleased to learn there was a Retriever quilt already made, more than appropriate for a mixed animal Veterinary Practice Owner. The detailed work and kind thoughts contributed by the volunteers is most gratifying. Thank you for being there to be one more step up in the fight."
– James Mantle, Lindsay ON

"A most beautiful and colourful quilt was delivered to me by a dear friend thanks to Victoria's Quilts Canada. It lifted my spirits and filled me with such joy and gratitude! I couldn't stop smiling. I wrap myself in the love shared through the creativity and generosity of so many. Thank you."
– Diana Durrand, Chemainus BC

"I was recently the recipient of a gorgeous quilt shortly after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. I've purchased small lap quilts for my two grand-daughters, who love to cuddle up with them when reading, but I've never splurged on one myself. I can only tell you how much it meant to have this thoughtful gift arriving just in time for my radiation treatments next week. No doubt it will remain a constant source of comfort on my fight back to health. Thank you."
– Judy Priest, Gagetown NB

"I am a volunteer in the Oncology Unit at our local hospital. I was recently given permission to ask the patients if they would like to receive a Victoria's quilt. The first time I did this, there happened to be a patient in the unit with hers so I could point it out to the other patients. I also happen to be a quilter with the Miramichi Quilt guild. We donate approximately 100 quilt tops which are then sandwiched and quilted by a group in Moncton for Victoria's Quilts Canada. One of our members is the person who delivers the quilts to cancer patients in this area (Miramichi). It is most rewarding to be involved with this wonderful organization."
– Bev Campbell, Lower Newcastle NB

"I just wanted to send out a big heartfelt thank you for providing me with a beautiful blue patch quilt. I start chemo this coming Wednesday and have already grown so very attached to my new quilt. It has been raining for days on end, yet my quilt brings me joy and warmth. It is so endearing to know that there is such a wonderful support group waiting in the wings to help make each day feel special. I have not met any of these wonderful volunteers but would like to personally thank them from the bottom of my heart. I am hoping to someday be able to return the kindness and volunteer in making a difference to another person in need. Until then... THANK YOU! You have already made my journey easier."
– Frankie Clark, Greely ON

"What a wonderful surprise yesterday!!! This has been a difficult week, as my pathology report didn’t come back the way I had hoped. Then, in the mail was this beautiful quilt! Thank you so much...it will be treasured."
– Kim Sutherland

"A couple of days ago I received an unexpected shipment in the mail from Victoria Quilts Canada. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the package contained a beautiful and very well-made quilt. The person who ordered it for me apparently requested "a manly quilt" and you came through perfectly. I have thoroughly enjoyed being wrapped very cosily in it the last few days, as I sit in my easy chair with my dog at my feet. I know I will be spending a lot more time garnering warmth and comfort from it. My very sincere thanks to you, the ladies who made my quilt and the dear freind who requested it for me."

"My husband received a lovely quilt made by the Tignish Branch of Victoria's Quilts Canada. It was delivered personally to our house. It was a gift from his daughter. It has a particular patchwork design and beautiful fall colors. It meant so much to him to receive such a gift. Thank you to the ladies who made it, to Victoria's Quilts Canada for making it possible, and to a thoughtful daughter. Joshua 1:9 provides such comfort and blessing."

"I am the very proud recipient of a beautiful Victoria Quilt. I had never heard of this volunteer organization and was totally in shock when it arrived in my mailbox, thanks to the thoughtfulness of my niece in New Brunswick. What a wonderful, practical idea. I have pancreatic cancer and I cannot believe how cold I am, even when the thermostat is showing 71 degrees. This expertly made quilt will be used every day! Thanks to all the volunteers who made this splendid gift possible."

– Linda D. Gray, Mindemoya ON

I told them where it came from and some said they where going to order one themselves for their loved one. The hospital sometimes is cold but with this quilt it keeps me toasty warm. and I take it with me when I travel up north to the cottage. I love this quilt. Thank you for making it."

"I just wanted to thank you for this amazing program. I'm a 35-year-old mother of three, young boys, and have been diagnosed with breast cancer, stage 3a. I have a very caring co-worker who sent me a quilt through your organization. It was such a surprise and joy to receive. It brightened a very difficult day and I wanted to thank all the people who dedicate their time to making such an impact on a difficult time."
– Terri McNutt, Kingston ON

"I just wanted to send along my sincere thanks for the quilt, which was sent to my mom, Joyce, late last year. She was delighted with the surprise and was humbled that someone would do this for her. Sadly, she lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. However, my dad has kept the quilt as a reminder of my mom and the generosity of people they did not even know. He's in a nursing home now, but this is one of the things he took with him when he moved. Again, thank you from our family."

Thank you."

"I cannot say enough about this organization and the wonderful work that they do! I learned about Victoria's Quilts Canada and requested a quilt for my 90-year-old aunt. I expected a wait; however, my aunt received a beautiful quilt within less than two weeks! AND, it was personally delivered by a very nice woman who told my aunt all about the program. What a wonderful use of the volunteer's time and abilities. And in support of people who can use every little bit of help and comfort. I would be remiss if I did not also encourage anyone who reads this to make a donation to Victoria's Quilts Canada. It is money VERY well spent."
– Stephen Largy, Mississauga ON

"I would like to thank all the volunteers for their wonderful work. It brings much joy and comfort to my father. It is a beautiful quilt, my parents and I sincerely appreciate the gift, and the speedy delivery! God bless you all."
– Joe Borracci, Ottawa ON

"I have requested a quilt from Victoria's Quilts Canada twice in the last year. I learned of them as my sister-in-law had received one a year ago from one of her co-workers while she was in hospital after having surgery for lung cancer. I thought it was such a kind and wonderful gesture. A friend and I sent one last summer to a co-worker of mine who unfortunately passed away; however, she was overjoyed when she received her quilt in the mail. Also, just this week my sister received a quilt which I had requested only a couple of weeks ago. She called me saying she had cried when she received it in the mail. To those who volunteer their time, supplies, etc., I admire you. It is always nice to give. I speak highly of Victoria's Quilts Canada and will continue to support your endeavours."
– Anne Marie Tibbo, St. John's NFLD

"A great organization. I was given a beautiful quilt by two lovely friends, Ulana, and Gayle, who worked with Victoria's Quilts Canada. Sadly, both Ulana and Gayle are no longer with us, having both passed with cancer. I treasure my quilt, which provides me with a great deal of comfort, and memory of friends."
– Joan Anderson, Ottawa ON

"Thank you so much for the wonderful service you are providing. My friend recently received her quilt and was brought to tears not only because of the gift but for the words of encouragement sewn into it in the form of a Bible verse. What a blessing."

"Wow, my wife received a quilt made by your member and a friend. What a beautiful gift. Thanks to all the volunteers for your love. Hugs."
– Dennis Gagné, Edmundston NB

"i am a volunteer at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario in the chemo clinic of the Stronach Cancer Centre. This week, a cancer patient came for her chemo treatment and brought with her the quilt that she received from your organization. We spent some time chatting about the quilt, your organization, and how she came to receive the quilt. I was very touched hearing her story, and she beamed with gratitude and compassion as she told me. I did not know anything about the good work that Victoria's Quilts Canada does. In fact, I did not know of its existence before this week. I applaud you! I have reviewed your website, and while I am not able to volunteer my time to your very worthwhile efforts (even in a non-sewing capacity), I hope that a monetary donation will help cover costs for a few more quilts to light up the faces of more people dealing with this horrible disease. I will be making a donation through Canadahelps.org. I wish you continued success and good luck. I hope you and your volunteers are able to continue your wonderful work for years to come."

"I personally would like to thank this organization and all of its volunteers for the remarkable, outstanding and compassionate work you are all doing. I have availed of your services a number of times, and the recipients of your lovely handmade quilts have been overjoyed just knowing that somebody took the time to do this for them, and with so much love and care. You are to be commended, and I will continue to show my appreciation with the occasional monetary donation to help with the costs involved. Again, thank you from the very bottom of my heart. May God bless each and everyone of you."
– Grace Stockley, Dildo NL

"Thank you so much for the beautiful quilt sent to my friend. She is at a very difficult time in her treatment and was overwhelmed with the quilt. You have made a difference. Can't thank you enough."

"My sincerest thanks to this wonderful organization, Victoria's Quilts Canada, and the group of volunteers who produce and provide these heartwarming gifts of beautiful quilts. My husband was hospitalized on a Tuesday with terminal cancer and on Friday morning, Donna delivered a beautiful quilt to comfort him. My husband passed away three days later, but for a short while it kept him warm. I now value and take comfort in this special gift and memory. Thank you all so much. God Bless everyone involved."
– Joan Lepage, Carleton Place ON

Not only is it delightfully warm and beautifully patterned, but it also is a reminder of the care and compassion that VQC volunteers invest in every creation. "I would like to thank you people so much for the lovely quilt which my husband received back in September. It is in red, brown and black tones with brown bears on some squares. My husband loves it and uses it every night while watching TV. When he went for his cancer operation he took his lap quilt with him and felt a lot of comfort from it. As a new quilter, I know how much time and energy goes into one of these quilts and we both appreciate your hard work and volunteering. Thank you again for the support."
– Eleanor and Rick Flynn, Bracebridge ON

"I am a single 51-year-old mother who is battling Triple Negative Breast Cancer. My friend submitted my name to you – and behold! I received a beautiful treasure of a quilt and a bag. I am grateful for the warmth of your quilt and the Sherpa carrying qualities of the matching bag. I started chemo in April. That first dose put me in Emerg for four days and admitted to the hospital for six days. I specifically chose your quilt to come with me for the second infusion to wrap myself in warmth, blessings and love… and my favourite colours black + white. I truly cherish it. I am in awe of its beauty and precision: I can’t even cut a straight line. This handmade quilt does what no store-bought blanket could do… infused with care, made with love."

"Yesterday, I received my quilt. I was thrilled! It's beautiful! Thank you SO much for sending me such a heartfelt gift. My breast cancer is a recurrence; disappointing after being cancer-free for eight years. Although my cancer is treatable with surgery, it will be a much longer recovery this time around. Convalescing with my cozy quilt will certainly help. Thanks to all the volunteers at VQC who give their time and talent to create a gift of comfort and support."
– Janet Bell Crawford, Aurora ON

"Thank you so much for the quilt that was sent to me. My sister had it sent to me and it was such a surprise. I am thrilled with it. The quilt is such a beautiful colour. God bless you as you continue to bring comfort and cheer."
– Cheryl Schneider, Surrey BC

"My husband was suffering from lung cancer when a friend sent him a quilt from you. It arrived and he would wrap himself in it for the warmth it gave him. This quilt was his constant companion until he lost his battle. Now I wrap the quilt around me to feel the warmth and comfort that the quilt gave to him, but also to feel his memory that was left wrapped in his comfort zone. Thank you."

"Thank you for such a beautiful gift. My quilt from the Kemptiville Branch is a work of art with a nature theme. My husband and I live off-grid and enjoy all aspects of nature. It is a perfect match! The quilt was much comfort to me after my surgery and will continue to be during chemo and for years to come."
– Donna Adams, Tamworth ON

When I received a phone call that I would be getting a quilt, I was speechless. There truly is good in this world. I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication. You are such kind, caring and compassionate people. My daughter had requested the quilt and I thank her so much. Each time I cuddle with my quilt, I will think of all of you wonderful ladies. God bless all of you!"

– Bruce Wilkins, Tsawwassen BC

"I submitted my friend's name just a few days ago for one of your quilts. A friend of mine who has cancer told me about what you do after she received one herself. My friend called me tonight to tell me she received her quilt, and it brought her to tears. She said it is absolutely beautiful. I was so shocked at how quickly it came and so happy about how much she loved it. Thank you all for what you do and this goes to show there are still so many wonderful people in a world that is sometimes not so wonderful. You brought a smile and warmed the heart of someone who has seen so much misery the last few months and for that I am so thankful. Bless you all."
– Kim Cleghorn, St Stephen NB

"There are no words to express how grateful our family is to Victoria Quilts Canada! Mabel Routhier was moved to tears to receive her quilt today. She has leukemia and liver cancer and is beginning to lose all her energy. She admired the quilt and loved the cheery colours. She had not smiled in a long time, but this quilt allowed us to see a glimmer of light and joy in her face. Thank you to the artists who created this unique quilt! Your work is valued and so appreciated! Mabel was excited to bring it home. Although we made a donation to your organization, no amount of money will ever be enough for the joy you give to people suffering with cancer."
– Suzanne and Normand Routhier

"Thank you for the quilt for my friend, Louise. She was very pleased to receive it."
– Mary Gauthier, Bathurst NB

"As the daughter of one of your Calgary Branch members who recently passed away, I would love to thank you all for your dedication and volunteer hours. My mother, Nancy, was so proud of her involvement with such a beautiful organization. Not only did she help create these beautiful pieces of art, she was also on the receiving end. Thank you once again."

– Betty Schmidt, Regina SK

"This is a wonderful thing you are doing. I know from working in the medical field for 30 years that it's the small things that are so very much appreciated by those who are ill and their families. I requested a quilt for my father who has been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I also requested this quilt for my son-in-law who at the same time has recently been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and will be undergoing chemo for a long time. I thought this quilt would show them how people care... Thank you for your wonderful thoughts and prayers and for sending Dad a beautiful quilt. I am sure that he will appreciate this so very much."
– Brenda Howard, Maccan NS

"I received this weekend a gift of a Victoria's quilt from children of close friends of ours. I was so emotional when I opened it. It is so beautiful in its handwork and in the message of caring that it conveys. I was really touched and I felt as though I was surrounded by a crowd of people who love me and care for what I am going through at the moment. My cancer is less severe than some of my other friends who have experienced breast cancer and I thank God every day for the health I am now enjoying. There is more to my journey but it appears that positive things will happen down the road. I will be making a donation to this program and I will be requesting a quilt for one of my closest friends who has been on her cancer recovery now for almost a year and has had to deal with much more than I have. Keep up the great work."
– Lorraine Tate, Cross Roads Country Harbour NS

"Last year I requested a quilt for one of my dear friends who battled cancer but unfortunately lost just before Christmas. He enjoyed it very much and has used it everyday until the last minute. I guess this year it's my turn. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. My friend, his wife, returned the favor by requesting one for me. I received it yesterday and it is so beautiful. The timing couldn't have been more impeccable. It was waiting for me at home upon my return from my first meeting with the oncologist. I didn't realize what kind of impact it has on the person receiving it. I can't describe the feeling. Overwhelmed by the love from my friend who thought about that, and particularly by the love of those who take the time to make such a beautiful work of art. My prognosis is not as dire as my friend's, so I expect to have good use of it for a long time. Thanks again."
– Lise Bélanger, Laval QC

"Thank you for the beautiful quilt my husband received today. Thank you to all the volunteers who give so freely of their time to help bring comfort to people who are fighting cancer."

"What a wonderful surprise! My wife Margaret requested a quilt for me. It arrived from the Ottawa Valley Branch in Renfrew. Her brother also received a quilt this week from the great bunch of gals from Golden Lake. The quilts will get a lot of use on these cold winter days. They are greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of your volunteers."
– Ken Roberge, Renfrew ON

"Comment: Earlier this month our 21-year-old son in Calgary got a call that he was to receive a quilt requested by my dear teacher friends. He was at home the afternoon the quilt arrived on a pass from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. The volunteer arrived with two quilts for him to choose from. Amazingly enough, the first choice was so absolutely perfect it was like it was made just for him! He was an outdoor camp councillor last summer, as he had been for several summers, when he was quickly and suddenly diagnosed with cancer over a weekend between camps. Unfortunately, he had to leave his job and begin treatment immediately. The quilt he received was in earthy tones and the flannelette on the back had forest animals on it including moose, which is his camp leader name. He was so impressed. We didn't even look at the second choice as we this one was perfect. The volunteer told us it had been made by a gentleman. Thank you so very much for this wonderful gift and this service that you provide for cancer patients."

"I just received my quilt yesterday and wanted to send a big thank you to the quilters. It is absolutely beautiful and cozy of course. Not to mention the special carrying bag too. Thanks again."
– Harriet Vanderburg, Woodlawn ON

"When I received my quilt it warmed my heart. Not only because it was from a dear friend but because to know that there are total strangers who want to make someone else feel loved in a time when their world is turned upside down. Mine is on my bed always. It was with me at my six chemo treatments, my 25 radiation treatments and five weeks in hospital because of a needle I needed to take. "A volunteer and her husband just stopped by tonight to drop off a quilt that was requested by our neighbor for my husband who was recently diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. We were in awe that someone had made this beautiful quilt for him and that these people went out of their way to deliver it, as we live out in the country. Your volunteers' generosity is truly overwhelming and very much appreciated. It's such a beautiful gesture and great idea. We thank you so much."

"My husband has been battling leukemia since September 2016 and has been in hospital since that time undergoing chemotherapy. Yesterday, we received this beautiful quilt and were overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the individual who requested it, the quilters and Victoria's Quilts Canada. We live in a remote Northwestern Ontario town and the hospital where he is receiving treatment is five hours away. Unfortunately, I cannot be with him all the time, so I know this quilt will provide him much comfort and warmth when he is alone. I will bring him the quilt as soon as I can! In the meantime, I have sent him a photo. Thank you so much and God Bless you all!"
– Lisa Barrett (on behalf of Hugh Barrett), Rainy River ON

"Today. a lovely woman presented a quilt to my brother. He was very surprised and grateful for the gift. Tomorrow, he goes for surgery and this act of kindness has softened the harshness of this cancer ordeal. Thank you to all the volunteers and donors who made this possible."
